The whole point of crab fishing is to eat the crab you catch! Enjoy Jan’s easy recipe for boiled crab:
Ingredients
- Rock Salt
- Water
- Live crab
Equipment
- Large Pot
- Tongs to handle the crab
- Crab crackers
Method
- Cover bottom of a pot large enough to hold your crab with rock salt.
- Fill with water and bring to a roiling boil.
- Add crab. Bring back to a roiling boil. (Note: crab are easier to handle if they’ve been in the refrigerator.)
- Cook for 15-20 minutes, depending on crab size. They’ll turn bright orange.
- Cool crab in an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
- Drain. Divide. Discard carcass.
- Serve with butter dipping sauce (half a stick of melted butter, half a lemon, squeezed, garlic salt to taste).
