We don’t want to live like tourists as we move from location to location. However, we want to take advantage of what each place has to offer, so we agreed to do “One Big Thing” as we travel. Here’s the list:
Mt. Rainier, Washington: Our fascination with mountains cannot be satisfied! Truly, one of the loveliest national parks we’ve visited.
Red Rocks, Denver, CO: The must-visit concert venue/natural rock formation just west of Denver.
Oregon Coast, Oregon: Jan took me to all the spots mentioned in his novel, Thunderbird & Whale, and showed me where he spent quality time in and around the Oregon coast & beyond.
Sandia Peak Tramway, Albuquerque, NM: If you want to see the city, valley, and mountains from great heights then nothing beats the tram!
Machu Picchu, Cusco, Peru: We made the epic journey to the top of the mountain to see one of the 7 wonders of the world. No yodeling. No regrets.
Wild Felid Advocacy Center, Harstine Island, WA: Tucked away on a remote road are 57 wild cats in their forever home. We wanted to see why they were there and help spread the word about how to help these beautiful creatures.
Salmon Fishing, Victoria, British Columbia: We enjoy getting out on the ocean to fish, so while in Canada, we chartered a boat to catch our limit.
